Cozy Country Cottage Close to Campus

Beckwoods Farm is the perfect place to stay in Ann Arbor

Sorry if we got your hopes up.   We never advertised this because, by the time we were ready, Amy decided to move in full-time.   The upshot is, it's not for rent.   However, there is loads of room in the lower field to pinch a tent or two, or even to park a camper, if you are so inclined.   Details could easily be worked out.

Though the 48105 address is actually an Ann Arbor address, the cottage and its twenty-four-acre property are decidedly in the country.   But a mere ten-minute drive brings you to the University of Michigan’s North Campus including many dining choices and a nice shopping area with three large grocery stores - Kroger, Busch’s and Plum Market.   Central Campus is just another six minutes beyond North Campus.   In the neighborhood of the cottage is Edith’s Market less than a mile away at Pontiac Trail.   A ten-minute drive to South Lyon brings you to some delightful places to dine, such as Aubree’s, and the Lyon Grill.   Just down the road are two golf courses, Fox Hills, and Rolling Meadows, while Matthaei Botanical Gardens is about ten minutes away.

Meanwhile, at the property, the cottage sits well back from the road, at the end of a long, paved driveway.   Beneath the driveway flows a little creek, and privacy from the road is provided by thick brush and trees.   Behind the cottage is about four acres of forest which is fun to explore.   To the side and front are grassy fields, pine trees, and a few simple gardens - nice large areas for walking in the day or in the evening.   Nature simply abounds, waiting to be heard and seen.   On cloudless nights, the skies are very dark, and the stars almost close enough to touch.

Though the cottage is no longer available, I will describe it anyway.   The 1970 cottage features a full kitchen, dining room, one bathroom, two bedrooms, dining/living room, and a large enclosed porch.   Both bedrooms have full-sized beds.   Closet space is available.   The couch is comfortable to sleep on, as well.   Ceiling fans are located on the porch, in the living room, and over both beds.   Heat is provided by a baseboard water pipe system.

The kitchen has fridge, stove, toaster oven and microwave.   There are a couople large-screen TVs.   Plenty of television stations and fast internet service are provided by Spectrum.   There is also an old tube AM-FM radio available.

On the east end of the cottage is a large enclosed porch with windows (and screens) on three sides, and two exterior doors.   Some plants reside on shelves in the east-facing windows.   The piano has since been removed.   Available for your use, is a full-sized washing machine, with supplies, and a dryer.

The great outdoors of this property includes 24 acres of forest and fields that you are welcome to use - depending on the weather, of course.   Bring your cross-country skis!   Depending on the time of year, you will find an outdoor table and chairs, and assorted recliners and chairs for outdoor lounging.   Behind the house is a natural gas barbecue, an inviting fire pit and a rack of fire wood.

Regardless of what occasion brings you to Ann Arbor, you are going to want to skip that and just hang out here at this delightful cottage!
